2027 1oz Lunar Series III Year of the Goat Silver Coin

Product Overview

Celebrate the Year of the Goat with the 2027 1oz Lunar Series III Year of the Goat Silver Coin, an official release from The Perth Mint's renowned Lunar Series III collection. Drawing inspiration from Chinese lunar tradition, this annual issue honours the eighth animal of the zodiac through a beautifully symbolic design rich in cultural meaning and artistic detail.

According to Chinese legend, the goat secured eighth place in the Emperor's Great Race through determination, cooperation and resilience. Featuring a peaceful family scene and traditional Chinese symbolism, this release continues one of the world's most popular lunar coin series and is an appealing addition for collectors of Perth Mint coins, zodiac-themed issues and Australian numismatic releases.

Design & Craftsmanship

The reverse depicts a mature goat, a young goat and a baby goat grazing peacefully beneath a plum blossom tree. The scene embodies the traditional Chinese phrase "Three Goats Bring Bliss", symbolising the passing of winter, the arrival of spring, the renewal of all things and prosperous new beginnings. Included within the design are the Chinese character for "Goat", the inscription "GOAT 2027", and The Perth Mint's iconic "P" mintmark.

The obverse features the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, together with the coin's weight, fineness and monetary denomination.

The imagery reflects the legendary story of the Emperor's Great Race, in which the gentle and determined goat travelled alongside the monkey and rooster. Working together to cross a wide river before the finish line, the goat ultimately claimed eighth place in the Chinese lunar calendar. People born in 2027, 2015, 2003, 1991, 1979 and every twelfth preceding year are believed to possess the Goat's gentle, creative and compassionate nature. They are often admired for their artistic talents, resilience and thoughtful approach to life.
